The story is the typical bilge, with the least-astonishing second-act twist I have ever encountered, there are some problems with the localization into English, and neither the HO scenes nor the minigames really stand out. Artifex Mundi does some excellent HO games, but this wasn't one of them. All that being said, however, unexceptional isn't the same thing as "bad." Given how bad some Hidden Object games can be, Chronicles from Beyond still falls within the bounds of tolerability. There are better HO games out there, to be sure, but if you're running out of games, or if you catch a sale, this is still a very playable title.. It's so-so. Quite short and average at best. Only worth buying while on -60% discount.. I love these kinds of games, but I cannot for the life of me finish this. It's so buggy. The hint button breaks after one use and you will have to go the the main menu to and back to fix it. Also one of the puzzles to open a door was broken, so I had to skip it.. I don't know why this has a mixed review. I actually enjoyed this one. It's a HOG. It's not the best one every made. But I'd say buy it. If you look at the score and your leary of buying, then get it on sale.. Not one of AM's best. Graphics were good. Story was ok. The bonus chapter felt like it was added just to make a short game longer. It was nice to have a fast travel map. Though, it did not work in the bonus chapter. Some of the HO items phase back and forth making them hard to see which was alittle frustrating at times. Game has a variety of mini games that can be challening but not too difficult. Would recommed only if on sale.. Verry good game!. I usually love Artifex Mundi games, but this one didn't do it for me. The story is bad. The bonus chapter was just... random and didn't add anything to the game. It's a good game to relax or pass time if you can find it for very cheap, but I wouldn't recommend buying it full price.. I don't know why this has a mixed review. I actually enjoyed this one. It's a HOG. It's not the best one every made. But I'd say buy it. If you look at the score and your leary of buying, then get it on sale.. Wow, I never expected to be this disappointed by an Artifex Mundi game. Or this irritated. I'm glad I grabbed this at a discounted price. The story was totally random. I wasn't even exactly sure what was happening at first. Who am I? Who is that? How is this connected? I was only slightly interested in it towards the end of the game.I missed a hidden object achievement because some of my clicks weren't registered correctly or not registered at all. The hidden object scenes weren't awful, some of them seemed to be in a lower quality. Not that that's a big deal. The mini game achievements require you to solve them in the first try, which doesn't sound hard, but there's a chance you totally won't understand what you're being asked to do. So, if you screw up or click out, you miss your chance for that playthrough.Maybe buy it when it's discounted...or look for a free key.I don't even want to replay for the achievements I missed. Which, includes the tutorial achievement that I skipped. Not even that. I won't even go back for that.. One of the original games by this developer and it shows. It's not as crisp or animated as some of their more recent games, but as you progress through the story you begin to see where some of their ideas started and how far they've come. The creative process behind creating the locations in Irony Curtain: This time we’d like to acquaint you with the creative process that goes into creating the scenes in the game. Here, for example, we have one of the first locations in the game – the conference Evan attends in order to present a speech on Matryoshka. If you'd like to support the game, don't forget to add Irony Curtain to wishlist!1. First off, we begin with a very rough concept art - mapping out the placement of active elements of the scene (the interactive parts that will contain moving objects), and on this, we build the gameplay (with placeholder dialogues and text and placeholder screens instead of minigames). This is usually the fastest part of the process. If we don’t like it or something doesn’t play out quite as well, we re-do parts of it until everything fits the way we want it to.PS. Drawing each location out by hand means, that we have concept arts for each and every location in the game! Would you like to see them as bonus material?2. After the sketch is completed we create a mood board, which sets the color schemes for all locations (we wanted it to not only be cohesive throughout the whole game but also reflect the passing of time – morning, afternoon, evening, etc). This is possible thanks to the “macrolocation” system we have – once you go through a set of locations you will not return to them again, so we can give you this sense of passing time. 3. Based on the concept we then proceed to fill in the details – this leads us to a complete lineart. A lineart is (just like the name suggests) a picture that has only the outlines, usually in black. If you haven’t seen one, it resembles a page taken out of a child’s coloring book.4. When we’re happy with the result we create a color palette from the mood board and roughly place them on the lineart. At this stage, we check out if everything works together – if the scene conveys what we wanted to say and if it’s also pleasant for the eye. 5. Then come the flat colors – literally filling in the line art with flat colors. Just one color layer, no shadows, no color blending. You could think of it as colorful paper cutouts placed on the lineart.6. The second-to-last step is creating all the shading, light reflections, and all small details that will make-or-break the picture, bringing it to life and helping us tell a story even before there’s a single word spoken or even before we introduce any of the main characters.7. Then, of course, with games comes the step of creating the animations, different states of interactive elements (etc. closed/open doors), etc. But that’s a different part of this tale. So, did you enjoy this little tour? Would you like to see more from Irony Curtain?. SOLVE THE MYSTERIOUS CASE IN THE CITY OF CRIME!: Follow the game or add it to your wishlist to stay updated!.
